Weekend Six Pack – Sticking with the form sides

Each week Rob Hartnett from 188BET.com will bring you six of the best football betting opportunities from the weekend action.  Rob is the public face of the leading In Play betting specialists and appears regularly on the Bolton, Wigan, Chelsea, Aston Villa, Liverpool and Everton websites doing betting previews.

Everton’s eighth of 11 wins by 2-0 or 2-1 and Liverpool’s late Asian Handicap ‘win’ at the Emirates put us back in profit last weekend.  We got Wigan right as well but were perhaps a little greedy in going for a one goal victory margin.

Well done Aston Villa on scoring their first come from behind win of the season against West Ham.  Villa could have been backed at odds of 12.0 when trailing in the first half at the Boleyn Ground.

April 23rd to 24th

Everton +1 Asian Handicap at 2.16 away to Man United

Everton are the form side in the Premier League after five wins from seven games.  They were against lower opposition but they have only lost one of five away games at the top six and are good value against a United side that is suffering a minor attack of the jitters. Everton have lost only two of their last six meeting with the Red Devils and have only gone down by more than a single goal on three occasions this season.

Aston Villa to win by a one goal margin against Stoke @ 3.20

We go back to the winning margin bet this week with Aston Villa having come through eight of their last nine wins by the minimum.  They have lost only one of twelve against Stoke who themselves are on a run of seven straight defeats away from home.  These odds compare well to the 1.84 about the likely home win.

Wigan to beat Sunderland @ 3.35

I forecast at the start of the season that Sunderland were a decent relegation bet at odds of around 13.0.  That looked pretty foolish when Europe was beckoning in the first half of the campaign but not so now after no win since January, one point from their last nine games and only two goals in their last six.  Wigan are in the top half of the Away table and have scored twelve and taken twelve points in their last six against sides outside the top four.

Tottenham Vs West Brom +2.5/3 Goals @ 2.00

Tottenham have won eight of the eleven home games in which they have scored going into the Arsenal game in midweek and have averaged three goals per game in their last five, despite two of those being scoreless.  West Brom are even more entertaining with an average of four goals per game in their last five and only one clean sheet all season.

Wolves and Fulham to draw at 3.20

Three of the last seven meetings between these sides have finished 0-0.  Wolves form has dipped again but at home they are a match for a Fulham side that has won only one away in 34 games.  With Hunt returning and Doyle maybe featuring before the end of the season all is not lost for Wolves but they could struggle to break down Fulham, even if their need is greater.

Chelsea to beat West Ham 1-0, 2-0 or 3-0 at odds of 2.43

Chelsea have won seven and kept clean sheets in seven of their eight home games against bottom half opponents.  Compare that to West Ham’s two goals and two points from their journeys away from home to opponents in the top half.  Rob Green’s form should be able to keep this from a drubbing but in the likely absence of Scott parker it is hard to see where there is much hope for the Hammers.
