And you thought the Celtic v Rangers brawl was bad? (VIDEO)

3 Mar, 2011 Jonathan F England, Europe

Watching the reaction to Celtic’s 1-0 win over Old Firm rivals Rangers and the various flare-ups that occurred at regular intervals during the match between the two sets of players (and coaches), my overriding feeling was ‘meh.’ Sure there were 3 red cards, El-Hadji Diouf and the game involved one manager squaring up to the other team’s future manager. But a much more heated – and hilarious – brawl had taken place just days earlier.

Macclesfield’s game with Wycombe Wanderers produced the following all-out WWE Royal Rumble-style scrap in League Two just last weekend, though you wouldn’t have known given the relatively minimal media reaction. Observe:

The best part of this brawl for me has to be the referee standing to one side blowing his whistle repeatedly, as if that would somehow magically cease a 22-man pile-up. Brilliant. Or disgraceful, given your disposition, of course.

  1. It’s gives the Old Firm arun for their money but is lacking 2 things:

    1. Why are the managers not involved?

    2. Nobody has a pop at one of the physio’s.

At least Macclesfield and Wycombe won’t be playing 7 times this season.
