A piece of Raul magic (Benfica 1-2 Schalke)
Ok, so there were better goals this Champions League 2010/2011 matchday 6 (be sure to check Eren Zahavi’s wondergoal for Hapoel Tel Aviv). But for sheer outlandish improvisation look no further than Raul’s assist for Jose Manuel Jurado for Schalke 04 against Benfica. The Real Madrid icon shows wonderful improvisation here as he sets up his fellow Spaniard for the opening goal in Schalke’s 2-1 win in Lisbon.
Raul spent sixteen years at Real Madrid and is the club’s all-time top goalscorer, but since moving to pastures new at Schalke the 33-year-old has taken to German football like a duck to water. Despite Schalke’s poor start he now has 6 goals in 15 Bundesliga games and continues to look every inch the majestic player he has always been. A lovely assist that helped Felix Magath’s side reach the last sixteen as group winners.
