Just a couple of quick bits and bobs I haven’t mentioned on here recently regarding your humble editor, moi. About a month ago the lovely people over at FourFourTwo, one of the most popular and prestigious football magazines in the world, invited me to join up with them to write a regular blog on African football for the online portion of their wonderful magazine. Naturally, I accepted.
So for the foreseeable future I will be contributing a regular piece for them, every fortnight at the very least, which you will be able to read over there. Here is the link to my profile, with everything I write neatly laid out for you. To date I have written an overview of the World Cup in South Africa and Africa’s year in the spotlight, assessed two of West Africa’s finest ever midfielders, mused on the top African summer signings and observed the growing influence of African players in the Premier League.
More to come, so keep an eye out if you’re interested in African football. From my point of view I’m glad to see the big guns of the football publishing world like FourFourTwo take more interest in the game in Africa, so am more than happy to play my part in spreading the word!
While concentrating on African football for FourFourTwo I will also be stretching my vocal chords for another new project this season, taking part in a brand new podcast with the boys over at the Football Fairground.
The European Football Special is a new podcast featuring London’s finest football writers and podcasters. Once a month, we’ll be getting together to analyse the latest goings-on across several major European football leagues, in particular Spain, France, Italy, Germany and Russia. I will be the pod’s Spanish football correspondent and will bring listeners all the latest from La Liga.
Its a new pod but a goodie, starring esteemed bloggers Terry Duffelen, Chris Oakley, Graham Sibley, Chris Nee and James Appell. Have a listen to Episode 1 here, and for more information on subscribing and the like, head here.
That’s about it from me for now. Also, before we get back to our regular scheduled programming of fine world football coverage, another quick bit of info. This week is New Contributors Week on Just Football.
Over the course of the week we are inviting new contributors, bloggers, writers and the like to join us with guest posts and articles, and will be featuring them all on the site over the next few days. First up, coming later today, is first-team debutant Andrew Burgess who will be taking a look at Bordeaux and Yoann Gourcuff, and as the week goes on we’ve got a look at the English football academy system, Sporting Braga, a Dual Nationality XI and much more.
We’d love to know what you think of our new signings, so please feel free to leave feedback and comments in the comments sections of posts, at the bottom of the articles as usual.
And if you’d like to get involved with New Contributors Week with a piece of your own, get in touch! We are always on the lookout for new contributors and bloggers to continue our commitment to covering football around the world.
