Chelsea – Premier League Champions 09/10 (Video)

Highlights of Chelsea’s crowning game as Premier League champions for 2009/2010, in which, needing to win the game to secure their first title since 2006, the Blues absolutely trounce Wigan Athletic 8-0. About as emphatic a statement of a championship winning season as there can possibly be.

Chelsea also become the first team since Tottenham Hotspurs in the 1960s to score more than 100 league goals in a season, helped of course by scoring 29 goals in 4 games (against Sunderland, Aston Villa, Stoke City – 7 each – and Wigan – hit for 8). And to top a fine day for the Blues, Didier Drogba also banged in a hat-trick to snatch the Golden Boot from Wayne Rooney on the final day of the season.

An incredible end to a fantastic first season at Stamford Bridge for Carlo Ancelotti, who navigated his team through the twists and turns of an unpredictable season (even Chelsea managed to lose 6 games), to lift only the fourth league title in the club’s history. Congratulations Chelsea!
