New Bolton Wanderers Home Kit 2010/2011

New Bolton Kit 2010

This is Bolton Wanderers’ new home kit for the 2010/2011 season. Released earlier this month and modelled above by big man upfront Kevin Davies, both kit makers Reebok and shirt sponsors 188Bet remain the same, the main differences being in design only.

As was widely agreed, Bolton’s 2009/2010 home kit was a monstrosity. It included, as Pitchslap so eloquently put it “a set of vertical stripes that resemble a bar code,” and plenty of other bizarre and incongruous, seemingly random bits and bobs tagged on. So it is pleasing to see that this year Reebok have gone for a far less horrific design, with greater simplicity and symmetry.

Out go the uncoordinated shoulder-to-armpit stripes and zebra patterns of yesteryear. In comes a red trim and Reebok logos on the shoulders. The crest is also moved to the centre of the shirt.

Unfortunately the giant orange blob remains, which still makes the kit look as if the owner spilled a tin of baked beans down his/her shiny new shirt and didn’t have time to clean the remaining stain before kick off. The blob is also almost twice the size of what should be the centrepiece – Bolton’s crest; y’know the bit that represents the club’s heritage and over 120 years of history.

What do you make of it? Overall I’d say its an improvement on last season, but still. That blob…. 5.7/10

  1. What can I say . . . the sponsors ruin the whole shirt. Why can’t they be satisfied with a nice arm patch.
