Poll Results | Fixture List Competition Winner & Ronaldo Poll Conjecture

18 Jun, 2009 Jonathan F Europe, Latest

A few announcements to draw your attention to this evening.

Firstly, many congratulations to James Sullivan, winner of our ‘Guess the opening day fixture list’ competition. James correctly called Bolton vs Sunderland as an opening day Premier League 2009/2010 fixture, and since nobody else including myself could guess any other fixture, Mr. Sullivan you are the winner. And no-one can really even attempt to accuse you of insider knowledge either. So well done. Thanks also to everyone else who entered the competition.

Secondly, the results of our Champions League final Man of the Match poll were as follows:

Lionel Messi – 30%
Xavi Hernandez – 30%
Andres Iniesta – 24%
Samuel Eto’o – 12%
Other – 3%

Readers of Just-Football were split between goalscorer Lionel Messi and provider Xavi, who tied joint top of the polls with 30% each. If I was to have final say between the two I would probably choose Xavi because I felt on the night he was exceptional, but that is just personal opinion. Both played key roles in Barcelona’s win. Thanks very much again to everyone who voted.

And in our latest poll, which has been running for a week or so, we ask whether you consider Cristiano Ronaldo’s impending move to Real Madrid to be either good business for Manchester United or a disaster for the Red Devils. So far, with a few days left to vote, 75% of people voting think it is great business for United, while 25% think the sale of Paris Hilton’s latest squeeze will prove to be a disaster for the red half of Manchester.

If you have not voted on this issue yet and would like to please see the voting panel down the right hand sidebar.

Thanks very much. This message will self-destruct in 5…4…
